R.I.P Tupac!!!

There is no argument when I say that Tupac Shakur is one of the greatest rappers to ever step on earth. Without Tupac, your favorite rapper would probably be working in an office somewhere. You Mad?

Personally, I could go on forever about how much I love Tupac (I listen to him everyday, literally) but instead I'll just remind you of his greatness he put on Earth. You can watch performances, interviews and listen to his music below:

New Music: Honey Cocaine - 90's Gold

The petite rapper, Honey Cocaine is back with a batch of new music ready for her fans. She released her second official mixtape hosted by DJ Ill Will called 90s Gold. She explained previously in an interview the concept behind the mixtape which was to basically take everybody back into the good ol' days by sampling well known hits from the 90s such as Dear Mama by 2Pac to No Scrubs by TLC.

Interview: Iggy Azalea on Hip-Hop

Currently one of the most talked about female MCs of the year shares on how how her relationship with hip-hop started and her love for Tupac with MTV2's "Sucker Free".

She revealed that 'Baby Don't Cry' by 2Pac & Outlawz (also my favorite) was the first song she fell in love with;

"I just loved that song. I don't know what it was."

She decided to turn her passion for music into (hopefully) a successful music career.

 "I knew I loved rap music, I knew I loved to sing along to the words. It takes a while before you have the guts to put yourself in their shoes and think this is something I could actually do."

 She also revealed that she was previously in a girl group with two of her friends living within her neighborhood but eventually decided to leave because the other two weren't taking as seriously as she thought they would.

"I take everything I do serious. I'm too competitive"

So I was awake this morning casually watching the Coachella Festival on YouTube at around 5am (I couldn't sleep, don't judge me) and I was looking at Dr Dre and Snoop Dogg pulling out all the stops to make their set a  moment to remember, bringing out the likes of 50 Cent and Eminem but the one thing that had literally the whole world talking (Twitter was on fireee) was the resurrection of the ultimate hip-hop legend....

Throwback Thursday: 90's

 

I totally forgot to do my weekly segment of 'Throwback Tuesday' on Tuesday, I've shifted it this week to Thursday (today). Thank God, there's two days beginning with T in a week.

Anywhoo, I shall throw all you music lovers out there to the mid 90s also known as the 'Golden Era'.
It was known as the golden era for hip hop and RnB because those two main genres were dominating the charts like never before. You could kind of say it was an open gateway for black musicians since they mostly dominate these genres (e.g. Tupac, Whitney Houston, Toni Braxton, TLC etc. etc.).
Personally, I think this was the best era for music period. It was a time when people could connect with the music. It was a time when lyricists made sense when making music so their audience would understand their story. No gimmicks. No attention seeking whores artists. No auto-tune. Just their talent and an instrumental to go with it.
